Meet Viktoria Modesta - the 'world's first amputee pop artist' who has overcome adversity to fire her way to musical stardom.

The singer's sexy six-minute video Prototype premiered on Channel 4 during the X Factor final last week and showed the 26-year-old using a spiky black shard as a prosthetic.

She had her left leg amputated after more than 15 operations failed to correct a dislocated hip she suffered during a difficult birth.

After moving to the UK from Latvia as a teenager, Viktoria dropped out of school at 14 because of bullying.

It was after becoming interested in music and fashion that she became determined to have her leg amputated.

She says it was key in giving her the confidence to pursue a music career.

In the video, Viktoria is shown performing a beautiful dance, wearing the unusual shard, while in another scene she wears a sparkling diamond-encrusted prosthetic leg.

The glossy video is already a huge hit, having attracted well over 10 million views on Channel 4's website and YouTube.

Introducing the video, Channel 4 invites the viewer to '"forget what you know about disability".

It is part of the station's commitment to providing opportunities for those with disabilities after the success of the coverage of the Paralympics in 2012.

Viktoria is determined that the hit video will begin to break down the idea that people should be defined by their disabilities.

"I didn't get here by wishing that the world just accepted me, I got here by working really, really hard and believing that the script that was written for me wasn't the one that I was going to live," she told the Daily Mail.

"But I do believe that the shift of power is in people like myself.

"Because if you walk into a room and act like a victim and expect to be treated like that, then you will be."
