October 16-19, 2012, Zhangjiajie, P. R. China

Bionic engineering covers the study of living systems with the intention of applying their principles to the design of engineering systems, and it is an interdisciplinary research area which integrates biology, materials, mechanics, informatics, robotics, and other related subjects. In recent years, bionic engineering has been actively developed globally. Many bionic scientific research and products have been conducted, designed and developed.

The 2012 International Workshop on Bionic Engineering (IWBE 2012) will be held in Zhangjiajie, China, October 16-19, 2012. Conferences by the International Society of Bionic Engineering (ISBE) in the similar aims have successfully been held in recent years: Conference of Bionic Engineering in Changchun 2006, Changchun 2008 and Zhuhai 2010. The workshop aims to provide a forum for researchers in bionic engineering from around the world to share their ideas and latest results. The theme of IWBE 2012 is “New Challenges of Bionic Engineering in Artificial Systems”. The host city Zhang-jia-jie, http://www.chinafacttours.com/zhangjiajie/, known by the film of AVATAR, is one of the most famous United Nations World Cultural Heritage Sites in Central South China.
