On December 21st, the 2nd ISBE International Online Lecture was successfully held via ZOOM platform. The lecture invited Professor Yan Xu, the Principal Investigator of the Nanofluidics Lab at Osaka Metropolitan University of Japan, to share his research experience in nanofluidics field with the topic of “Pioneering Nanofluidics for New Chemistry, Biology, and Materials Science”. The lecture was chaired by the board member of the ISBE, Professor Huawei Chen from Beihang University.
Nanofluidics is an emerging area for exploring fluid properties in nanochannels, attracting interest in multiple scientific fields. As a pioneer in this field, Professor Xu had gave a system introduction of the development progress and future prospects of nanofluidics, highlighting the recent advancements of his group in the "Nano in Nano-Integration" technology, with a focus on its potential to pioneer new frontiers in chemistry, biology, and materials science. The series of nanofluidic device manufacturing strategies of Professor Xu’s group have integrated nanofabrication, fluid control, function integration, molecular capture and detection technologies, opening up a new path for the integration of nanofluidics with other fields.
The lecture had attracted nearly 200 scholars and graduates from multiple universities and research institutions around the world, including University of Michigan, Osaka Metropolitan University, Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University, Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry CAS, Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics CAS, University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Jilin University, Beihang University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Wuhan University, South China University of Technology, Beijing Institute of Technology, etc. The participants had a wide discussion on the key technologies in nanofluidic control at the lecture.
As one of the series of ISBE activities, the International Online Lecture aims to continually build good academic exchange platforms for members together with the ISBE Online Academic Forum on "Frontiers in Bionic Engineering".
