Xiamen Branch of Luoyang Ship Material Research Institute, China (725 Xiamen Branch) was established in 1958 in Xiamen, agarden on the sea, and is affiliated to Luoyang Ship Material Research Institute. It is mainly engaged in the research of marine corrosion and protection and engineering application, third-party testing of marine coatings and new materials, and transformation of scientific and technological achievements.
725 Xiamen Branch is the degree-conferring unit for master's and doctor’s degree in material science, the postdoctoral work station in materials science and engineering, and the member unit of national field research station networkof material environmental corrosion. After 60 years of development, it has a research park covering an area of ??over 200 mu in Tong'an District, and has established the platforms fordesign, test, R&D and industrialization in Huli High-tech Park, Xiang'an District and Dalipu Island. The main research areas include: anticorrosive coating technologies ofmarine and marine engineering such asheavy-duty anticorrosive coating in ship’s internal tanks and floating protection platforms and graphene heavy-duty anticorrosive coating; new antifouling coating technologies such as bionic friction-reduction antifouling coating, long-lasting self-polishing antifouling coating, degradable antifouling coating andself-layering anticorrosive and antifouling integrated coating; and functional coating technologies such as high temperature resistant coating, non-slip coating and in-situ smart self-repairing coating.
The integral material testing platform of 725 Xiamen Branch covers the fields of corrosion and protection testing and marine environmental testing and evaluation.It has obtained the qualifications of the world's nine major classification societies such as China Classification Society and Norwegian Classification Society, and has the ability to independently issue inspection reports and technical ratings. 725 Xiamen branch currently has 48 permanent members, including 4 national-level outstanding contribution experts and 6 doctoral supervisors. By gathering talents, it solves the key technologies of materialbottlenecksin the marine environmental protection industry, and promotes the transformation of scientific and technological achievements and industrialization scale.
